Blog:
From the beginning of time wars, revolutions and conflicts have come and gone. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. We can’t forget that the pie is planet earth. Everything we have and even the material inside our bodies was borrowed from the earth. Borrow all you want and remember that someday the earth will call in your loan.
Givers And Takers
Some people say the world is divided up between “givers” and “takers.” The “givers” love to give and the “takers” love to take. This thinking always reminds me of the book the “Art of Selfishness.” If you read past the title you realized that the book is really about protecting yourself from “takers.” “Takers” are people that always need a loan or a ride or a favor. Their weapon is usually guilt. Guilt is the tool of the “takers” who use it to make you feel lousy. They have little guilt and wouldn’t feel bad at all by taking your last dollar. They are never there to help you when you have a problem. The “takers” might buy you dinner if it is tax deductible or the money for the dinner was actually given to them by someone else.
The best defense against the “takers” is the word “no.” If you have to lie it is not wrong because the lie is justified in this case. Moving away or going out of your way to avoid “takers” is wrong because it is hurting you by often costing you money and extra stress.
I know what you are thinking? What if the “taker” is your adult child, brother, sister, mother or father? What you might do is set up a “Taker’s Fund.” You would give out the money in this fund after all your bills and basic needs have been met.
The best method to deal with “takers” is to spot these people a head of time and to avoid them at all costs.
Rocket Ship Earth
I am always hearing people talking about the earth being
compared with a rocket ship traveling through space. Rocket ship earth
traveling around the sun each year is such a good analogy. Hey wait a minute. The difference between a
rocket ship and rocket ship earth is that if we were on a rocket ship going
around the sun we wouldn’t be slowly dismantling the rocket ship! I can just imagine taking a piece of the
rocket ship each day to build stuff on the ship. We need to repair the toilet. No problem I would say,. “I will just take a
piece of the air conditioner and see if I can fix it.” Common sense would tell you we would soon
cause the rocket ship to break. Yet we
keep taking pieces of rocket ship earth so we can build automobiles so we can go
back and forth to work and keep buying more stuff taken from rocketship
earth. Now I know certain people who
make all kinds of money by dismantling rocket ship earth will say there is no
scientific proof for this kind of thinking. So, I guess we are screwed. But
remember the next time you take another piece from rocket ship earth ask
yourself if we are eventually going to break rocket ship earth. Recycleit.Zoomshare.
